A financial advisor based in Boston, Massachusetts, Gerard “Gerry” Dougherty has served as the president of Boston Independence Group, Inc., since 2012. He oversees all operations at the Westborough retirement planning firm, with a focus on helping clients live their best possible lives during retirement. In addition to his work as a financial advisor, Gerard Dougherty has authored a book, Uncomplicated Money, which is available via Amazon. He has hosted the AM830 WCRN radio show Making Money for a decade, often discussing different income streams available to retirees. He was honored with a 10 Years of Broadcast Excellence award from the station. More recently, he launched the retirement planning-focused podcast Retirement Is Within Reach, which is available on all major podcast platforms.
Gerry Dougherty studied financial management and leadership at Penn State University. He received a chartered leadership fellow certificate from the American College of Financial Services and completed a national social security advisor program with the National Social Security Association. He also holds political science and economics degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
